Various Sightings Around Outland
So, along with way to becoming Ogri'la's greatest hero, I built up quite a reputation with the Sha'tari Skyguard, Shattrath City's high-flying expeditionary forces. So much so that I discovered the other day that they were willing to sell me one of their prized nether ray mounts. It don't do anything my swift wind rider mount don't already do, but it's got a funky ungulating thing going on (hey! check out Ratter and the big words! Ungulating!) so I said what the hey and bought meself one. (Unlike the new age hippy ogres the Skyguard takes cash. Works for me!)
I figure, since I got this new flying mount maybe I'll take some time and do a little exploring. Here's some stuff I found:

Doom Lord Kazzak used to hang out in the Blasted Lands in Azeroth, back when he was just plain old Lord Kazzak. I hear sometimes he'd get bored and run up to Stormwind and have hisself one hell of a night on the town. Anywho, when the Black Portal opened up earlier this year he gave himself a promotion and set up camp on the Hellfire Peninsula. He's up on this plateau north of Thrallmar with a whole bunch o' elite demons runnin' around doin' his whims. Even has a couple of buffed up Fel Reavers for bodyguards.
So, while I was there, did I walk up to Mr Doom Lord and give him a chance to show me what he was really made of?

This here troll be Challe. She runs the Home For Little Tykes way up in the mountains of northern Nagrand. I saw little orphan blood elfs and humans and tauren and space goats all running around playing together, totally unawares that there's heavy-duty warfare going on just a few miles away. I tried to ask Ms Challe about what was she doing with all these kids so far fom civilization, but all she'd say was "Shhhh. You wake da babies, mon."
Now, I know you's thinking "What a noble woman to dedicate her life to the care and upbringing of these littlest victims of the wars." But I calls shennanigans. I know trolls. I hang with Rimunathah and Zinzi, and I know how they minds work. She's looking at those baby tauren and thinking to herself "Mmmmmm. Veal!"
There was some young human kiddos runnin' around there. You know, there's good eating on one of those. Wonder if there'll be room for one more at the table ...

I was discussing the very topic of this type of shenanigans with another in Shatt the other day. This is my take and how I would “imagine” the meat would be:
Dwarf, a bit tough but with some marinating the meat could be good in a stew.
Gnome, it would be a waste of effort to cook with very little meat. Not even an appetizer size portion. I don’t recommend it at all. So don’t even try it.
Night Elf, stringy and I would imagine would get caught in your teeth. Unless you can get one in bear form, that would be a treat. But since they turn back to elf form dead you … would… umm… to get the bear meat… alive and not dead.
Human, stinky while alive (have you ever been to Stormwind in the summer?), but once cleaned they chop up well, would recommend starting with a stir fry.
Draenei (or space goat), it is just like …well goat meat and very versatile.
Troll, their meat is better for slowly cooking, throw the meat in a crust with some veggies you get an excellent meat pie.
Undead, maggots are just not what I am looking for in meat.
Tauren, it is beef with a spicy wild flavor that would enhance any meal.
Orc, …. umm… I will keep to myself.
Blood elf, you would think they would be stringy like the Night Elves, but it is not the case at all. The sun gives them an added flavor that is sweet. Quite good just grilled up.
So I would agree with your assessment if you observed “blood elfs and humans and tauren and space goats”. Ms Challe chose the best to the pickings. Of course this is only what I would “imagine”. I suggest bringing a mango salad if you do get that table invite.
Might need to mount an Alliance expedition up there...
